Hello,

My name is Daydrielane, and I am an artist and photographer. I grew up in Kingston, Jamaica, alongside my younger sister, Rhonda, who lived with Sickle Cell Disease.

It is her memory and my love for her that inspire this project. Through photography, I aim to raise awareness of the challenges faced by people living with SCD, while also celebrating their strength, beauty, and encouraging stories.

This project welcomes participation from individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease, their family members and caretakers, as well as medical professionals and advocates who work tirelessly in support of the sickle cell community.

The process is simple: I’ll spend a few moments with you—listening to your experience and capturing your portrait. My hope is that these images will spark understanding, inspire action, and open doors for greater awareness, funding, and support.

The portraits will culminate in exhibitions across New England (dates and details to come).
